GPP Network Launch by Psoriasis Philippines (PsorPhil): A Beacon of Hope for Generalized Pustular Psoriasis (GPP) Patients

Manila, Philippines - October 31, 2023 - Psoriasis Philippines (PsorPhil), the leading national advocacy and support group for individuals living with psoriatic diseases, has marked a historic moment with the launch of the GPP Network. This groundbreaking initiative focuses on individuals battling Generalized Pustular Psoriasis (GPP), an exceedingly rare and severe form of psoriasis that can be life-threatening.

What is GPP?

Generalized Pustular Psoriasis (GPP) is a rare and severe autoimmune inflammatory disorder, causing widespread, painful, and pus-filled blisters (pustules) on the skin, often surrounded by inflamed, red skin. Due to its potentially life-threatening nature and significant impact on well-being, early diagnosis, and appropriate treatment are critical.

The Launch of the GPP Network

On October 25, PsorPhil gathered GPP patients across the Philippines to launch the Psorphil-GPP Network. The event saw distinguished speakers from the Philippine Dermatological Society, Philippine Rheumatology Association, and Philippine Psychiatry Association deliver informative talks on GPP. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bryan Guevara (PDS), Dr. Aldo De Vera (PRA), and Dr. Tofi Sison (PPA) for their valuable contributions to this crucial event.

Emotions ran high during the event as GPP patients shared their challenges, making it a poignant and unforgettable moment. The event was a hybrid gathering, with many patients joining via Zoom to ensure their participation. Some patients traveled hundreds of kilometers to the venue in Quezon City, underscoring the significance of the GPP Network.

The event's highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between PsorPhil and several hospitals that recognize the urgent need for partnership. This alliance aims to save lives during GPP flare-ups, demonstrating a commitment to the well-being of GPP patients.
